GLC-LFB - Breakdown Lorry at Croydon HQ
The GLC-LFB was created on 1 April 1965. A series of photos was commissioned of each type of fire engine, either within or absorbed into the enlarged London Fire Brigade. The London Fire Brigades only Breakdown Lorry is seen here at the Southern Command Headquarters fire station (Croydon). The Brigade maintained a breakdown lorry since the early 1900s: it attended major accidents and supplemented the emergency tender crews with its heavy hot-cutting equipment. It was taken out of service in the late 1970s
