Its independent pumping and propelling engines allowed firefighters to reach the scene of a fire more quickly and effectively tackle the blaze. This photograph, taken at the London Fire Brigade headquarters in Southwark, SE1, is a testament to the progression of firefighting technology during the early 20th century. The LCC-LFB Shand Mason motor steam fire engine is an essential addition to any collection of historical fire service vehicles and equipment.
