The Hatfield motor pump was the first petrol driven engine appliance in which the engine was used to operate the fire pump. Two of these machines were purchased in 1908 and were an improvement on all previous types, gradually superseding the stream fire engine. Here the fire pump is supplying water to the two hose lines in the fourth floor of the drill tower
