Bystander cover - Miss Rose Bingham
Renowned society beauty Miss Rose Bingham, daughter of Lady Rosabelle Brand and later to become the Countess of Warwick, pictured on the front cover of The Bystander magazine in 1932 in a photograph by Madame Yevonde. The magazine describes here as " one of the most beautiful girls in Society. She is a keen and excellent dancer and is often seen at the most popular dinner and supper places in the West End." Interestingly, turning the page over, there is a portrait of Miss Margaret Whigham who had recently become engaged to the Earl of Warwick. Margaret broke off the engagement shortly before the wedding and married Charles Sweeny. And Rose Bingham ended up marrying him in 1933. Date: 1932

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph of Miss Rose Bingham graced the cover of The Bystander magazine in September 1932. The renowned society beauty, whose mother was Lady Rosabelle Brand, posed elegantly for Madame Yevonde's camera, wearing a striking tiara that accentuated her striking features and radiant beauty. The magazine described her as "one of the most beautiful girls in Society," and noted her passion for dancing and frequent attendance at the most popular dinner and supper places in London's West End. Turning the page, another portrait emerged, this time of Miss Margaret Whigham. At the time, she had recently become engaged to the Earl of Warwick. However, an unexpected turn of events unfolded when Margaret broke off the engagement just before the wedding, and instead married Charles Sweeny. Meanwhile, Rose Bingham found herself in a surprising turn of events as well. She ended up marrying Charles Sweeny in 1933, making her the new Countess of Warwick. This cover of The Bystander magazine, therefore, holds a unique place in history, capturing a moment of intrigue and unexpected twists in the high society world of the 1930s.
