This evocative photograph captures the timeless charm of the Dew Drop PH, a cherished local pub located in the heart of Penge, London. The image presents a frontal view of the pub's facade, with its ornate brickwork and distinctive signage, which has remained unchanged for decades. The Dew Drop, established as a public house by Hoare and Company Limited, has been a beloved institution in the community since its inception. The back of this print reveals intriguing insights into the pub's rich history. In July 2018, parts of the building, specifically 201.203 and 205, underwent significant transformations. The former clothes shop and the carpet shop, respectively, emerged as new businesses, marking a new chapter in the Dew Drop's story. The clothes shop was later converted into the Loafe cafe in December 2012, and was subsequently renamed Blue Mountain Cafe by November 2013. The carpet shop, however, remained empty in 2014. Despite these changes, the Dew Drop PH continues to stand proudly as a testament to Penge's vibrant history and the ever-evolving nature of urban life. This photograph serves as a poignant reminder of the pub's past while inviting us to imagine its future.
