This evocative photograph captures the facade of the Hope Public House, located in Lewisham, London, during the 1910s. The Hope PH, with its ornate brickwork and distinctive signage, once stood proudly as a beloved local watering hole for the community. The pub, which was not affiliated with the Charrington and Company Limited, was a gathering place for friends and neighbors, offering respite and camaraderie. The image, taken prior to 1919, shows the pub in its prime before its eventual closure. Sadly, by July 2018, the Hope Public House had been demolished, leaving only memories and this photograph as reminders of its existence. The back of the print provides details of its location in Lewisham, London, and its former address, SE13 7FA. This photograph offers a glimpse into the past, transporting us back to a time when the Hope Public House was a vital part of the local community.
