Blitz in London -- training in use of breathing apparatus
Blitz in London -- regular London firefighters being trained in the use of breathing apparatus (BA) in the yard of Brigade headquarters, Lambeth. They are wearing Proto Mark IV oxygen re-breather sets, with a nominal duration of about one hour. Although later replaced by the Mark V, this type of BA set remained in regular use in the London Fire Brigade well into the mid 1970s when they were replaced by compressed-air BA sets. The men are being taught, with the use of blindfolds, how to move in smoke and darkness, finding their way around by touch
